Ten years of modesty and reflection make Zeng Qingzhen who he is today

Every day before 8:30 in the morning and after 22:00 in the evening, there will always be a young man walking on the shady road of the industrial park where the Envicool headquarters is located. He is a man in the prime of life, energetic and light-footed.


For ten years, he shows up for work on time every day as a R&D personnel in the SPT Department. He has made great achievements in his research with dedication to his work. In his family's view, he is a peaceful and humble man obsessed with his work. While his colleagues view him as an amiable and rigorous person who works diligently. His name is Zeng Qingzhen, who plays the role of R&D director of the SPT Department in Envicool.

In 2009, he joined Envicool and worked in the SPT Department. From 2009 to 2015, he participated in and led product development. 

From 2015 to 2019, he served as R&D key customer manager, refrigeration manager, refrigeration device CEG, and project management manager, making outstanding contributions to the development and team building of the SPT Department.


Currently, he serves as the R&D director of the SPT Department. Thirteen years ago, Zeng Qingzhen, from Guangzhou, a city of blossoms, joined Envicool in Shenzhen on his classmate's recommendation.

In his early days at the company, there were no more than 10 people in the R&D department. In spite of the small size, the team was known for high efficiency. Zeng Qingzhen has many new experiences in Envicool. For instance, he participated in a 300 W AC project for the first time, communicated with suppliers for component selection for the first time, led a zero-to-one project development for the first time, and witnessed the product developed by him passed the compliance test, put on the production line, loaded for shipments, and delivered in small batches for the first time. He is so proud of himself. 



A hand-on leader who provides guidance 

"At 3:00 in the morning on March 28, 2019, Mr. Zeng was still working with us for moving into the 5G market. We thought that the leader was only for leading, but he's different with no arrogance. No matter it's tightening screws, drilling holes, or assembling machines, he always works with us side by side. ”


In order to ensure the performance of the new product met the requirements, Mr. Zeng and his colleagues tested it overnight at the project site. That's why Zeng Qingzhen is considered a hand-on leader who provides guidance.

He has really high standards for his own performance at work and often gives guidance to other colleagues. Instead of watching newcomers struggling at work, he will teach them skills and methods by taking them to field work.


"Field work is very different from working in the company. New employees can have a clearer understanding of the application scenarios of our products, as well as the required testing conditions and key feedback points our customers really value. They can learn more in the communication and exchange with customers." By taking new employees out for more onsite information, Zeng Qingzhen teaches them how to get started quickly and improve their judgment for rapid growth.


As for experienced employees, he will let them make decisions after a thorough discussion and encourage them to learn about other industries.

Mr. Huang was deeply impressed by such a method. He said, “When we turned to him for information, he would quickly respond to our needs, and at the same time, make the information clear and well-organized. He would highlight the root cause of project requirements, potential risks, and his suggestions. He can always think deeper than others and inspire you with the questions, rather than just give you an answer. ”



A diligent learner and thinker

“He's always curious and eager to learn. When facing difficulties on site, Mr. Zeng will humbly consult the senior experts of our customer's company.” "When talking to suppliers, he will dig deeper for more knowledge relating to spare parts and so on. When talking with customers, he will also ask questions about their technology and related knowledge.” Mr. Li and Mr. Wang shared with us how Zeng Qingzhen kept learning for all these years to improve himself.

After several years of doing R&D in the SPT Department, most people can grow into professionals in products. However, our products are applied in multiple industries because of their common needs for temperature control. “We still have much to learn about how to better apply our technology to other industries and understand their actual needs." Zeng Qingzhen is good at seizing every opportunity to learn from people working in different fields.At the R&D review meeting, he was able to answer cross-field questions in an orderly manner with his clear head, looking cool, calm and collected.


As the saying goes, reviewing the past enables us to learn about the law governing the evolution of history. Zeng Qingzhen always thinks while reading. He found that leading a team is very similar to leading an army. Therefore, he broadened his mind by what he learned from books and used them to manage his own team. The most inspiring one is The Southern Ming, focusing on civil and military leadership of the southern Ming regimes from 1644 to 1662.


No matter how busy he is, he always keeps the habit of fragmented reading. He enjoys reading, enjoys the moment of peace, and enjoys following the lead of the author. For him, it's a feast for his mind. He likes books about technology and management, as well as books about history and culture.



Embrace both opportunity and challenge

The issuance of the 5G licenses for commercial use in China marked the emergence of new business models and new services. For SPT product lines, that represented a huge opportunity. Zeng Qingzhen told us: “The commercial use of 5G will for sure boost the number of base stations, as well as the demand of our products.

On the other hand, now we install one air conditioner on one cabinet door. In the 5G era, we may need to install two. In addition, accelerated transmission speed will generate more heat than before, which means a higher standard for cooling capacity.

What we can do is to continuously follow the needs of customers and understand new application scenarios to solve problems and create value for customers with rapidly evolved technology! ”


Chip-level electronics cooling was a new point of growth with an extended coverage of consumer goods. Energy storage products were in great demand so that colleagues of the Marketing Department were discussing how to enter the market using new business models.

Zeng Qingzhen said, “Challenges are everywhere, but there is no need to be afraid. Of course, we won't get carried away by so many opportunities. Instead, we will correct our shortcoming and fight together with greater force!” Confusion and hesitation are common experiences that many people face at some point in their lives. Zeng Qingzhen talked about his with a smile and said, “Entrepreneurship is the key.”

Every product has its ups and downs. According to Mr. Zeng, we should discover new breakthroughs and growth points to conquer another peak. “It's the same for us. Without the spirit of entrepreneurship, you will lose the momentum to overcome challenges or find a new path, not to mention forge ahead.” Zeng Qingzhen becomes who he is today after ten years of modesty, reflection, and passion to learn.
