Envicool Supports China's First Large-Scale Computing-Power Synergy Project Achieving Energy-Efficient Operation

According to a CCTV News, China's first large-scale green power direct-supply project integrating computing and electricity – the 500,000-kilowatt photovoltaic power station of the Zhongwei Cloud Data Center Base – was officially put into operation on May 2. Furthermore, in June this year, the Zhongwei Cloud Base Computing Power Park will become China's first 100,000-card computing cluster.

The park has adopted on a large scale, providing efficient cooling services for data center computer rooms and supporting the energy-efficient and stable operation of ultra-large-scale AI computing clusters.

With the explosive growth of AI large models, electricity consumption by data centers has surged. Data shows that by 2030, the total electricity consumption of data centers nationwide is expected to exceed 700 billion kWh, accounting for more than 5% of the country's total electricity use. As data centers gradually transition from "ten-thousand-card clusters" to "100,000-card clusters," the energy consumption brought by high-density computing deployments places higher demands on data center infrastructure.

Meanwhile, "computing-power synergy" is becoming a new logic for data center layout. Computing facilities are characterized by large-scale construction and high sensitivity to electricity costs, and are therefore clustering in areas rich in green power resources. Indirect evaporative cooling solutions can significantly reduce cooling energy consumption, aligning well with the concept of computing-power collaboration.

Zhongwei is located at the edge of the Tengger Desert in Ningxia, China. The area is rich in wind and solar resources and has favorable climatic conditions, with an average annual temperature of approximately 8.5 ℃, providing excellent natural cooling resources.

Envicool's XFlex 5.0 IEC solution is well adapted to such northwestern China's climate characteristics, supporting efficient and reliable data center operations.

XFlex 5.0 IEC solution incorporates a closed hot-aisle design and airflow optimization. Through air-side high-efficiency heat exchange and evaporative cooling technologies, it makes full use of outdoor natural cooling resources, reduces mechanical refrigeration, and lowers operational energy consumption.

The core heat exchange core of the unit features an X-shaped double-diamond structure design, which further increases heat exchange area and extends the duration of natural cooling utilization. Additionally, the unit is designed with built-in redundancy: even if mechanical cooling fails, the system retains cooling capacity, further ensuring overall heat dissipation efficiency.

Based on local annual weather data calculations, the unit achieves a CLF (Cooling Load Factor) of only 0.103 under full-load operating conditions, and as low as 0.085 at 80% load, effectively reducing the energy consumption of the data center cooling system.

Today, China's computing-power collaboration has formed a nationwide integrated computing network layout comprising eight hubs and ten clusters, injecting strong green momentum into the development of China's intelligent economy.

In the process of advancing the deep integration of computing infrastructure and new energy power systems, energy storage systems – as a standard component of new power plants – play a critical role in ensuring stable and reliable power supply. As installed renewable energy capacity grows rapidly, the safety and operational stability of energy storage systems also impose higher demands on thermal management capabilities.

Envicool continues to strengthen its efforts in the energy storage and power thermal management sectors, leveraging technological innovation and scenario-specific solutions to drive the computing-power collaboration toward safer, more efficient, and smarter outcomes.

Envicool BattCool energy storage full-chain liquid cooling solution integrates full-chain liquid cooling, full-process in-house autonomy, and full-lifecycle services, achieving full adaptability for energy storage environments, full adaptability for power grid systems, and global coverage of service networks.

Over the years, Envicool has built a comprehensive cooling system covering three major areas – digital wave, new energy, and better lifestyle – across the full chain, full scenarios, and full lifecycle. Building on this foundation, Envicool will continue to participate in the construction of green computing infrastructure, providing reliable and stable support for energy-efficient data center operations.
